USC just isn’t having the best of times lately, they have a slew of football players making and acting out some really stupid decisions. The latest was starting a Facebook group dedicated to White Power as a joke. Of course they appear to be skipping English class or lack the mastery of cutting edge technology like spell check.
The racist Facebook group was created by a USC football player and showed a graphic of a black baby in handcuffs. Junior linebacker Clay Matthews created the group, “White Nation,” which featured a graphic with the caption, “arrest black babies before they become criminals.” Teammates David Buehler, Brian Cushing, Dan Deckas and Dallas Sartz joined the group.
“This group is not for the faint of heart,” read the group’s description. “All members are athletes of Caucasion (sic) descent. DISCLAIMER: In no way are the following memebers (sic) intolerant of others, we are just doing our duty of protecting the Arian (sic) brotherhood.”
These guys need to learn the difference between funny and stupid. Deadspin thinks “This should do wonders for USC’s recruiting“.
The time has come for Carroll to swing the hammer and get these guys in line, pretty soon USC will be entering the reputation territory of schools like Miami and Nebraska.

There’s nothing funny about racism!
As an alumnus of that great university, reading those comments by the white players on the team makes me very sad. During a time when the university is showcasing its academic prowess and social leadership together with its legendary football program, this pushes our university back about twenty years. Freedom of speech issues will protect the aryan group but I can’t imagine being in spring training with the instant divisiveness they have created on the team. This will definately impact the team’s performance, image, and recruiting. USC as an institution has always been very conservative and in some circles, in the past, seen as bordering on racism, for example, refusing Jackie Robinson’s admission. I thought we had come far away from that. The other “USC” waves confederate flags at its rallies, sadly, perhaps that’s next for the “Real USC!”
