Miami Dolphins to start rookie QB John Beck on Sunday

He’ll do so without playing a single snap in a regular season NFL prior to this Sunday. From the Sun-Sentinel-
Dolphins rookie John Beck was handed the baton Wednesday, becoming the third quarterback to start for the Dolphins this season and the 12th starting quarterback to enter the equation since Dan Marino retired in 1999.
Beck will be making his NFL debut against an aggressive Philadelphia Eagles defense on Sunday, and coach Cam Cameron said at this point the plan is to ride the team’s second-round draft pick the rest of this season.

Cameron said he made this switch because of the “tremendous progress” he’s seen from Beck the past month. He expects Beck to limit turnovers, executive the offense as designed, utilize the weaponry around him and lead an offense that’s ranked 19th in yards per game and points per game.
“Young guys can lead. Just play the best football you can play. That’s what we’re asking him to do. This is a young man. This isn’t a guy in his mid-20s. This isn’t a 21-, 20-year old guy,” Cameron said, referring to the 26-year-old who spent two years away from football while on a Mormon mission in Portugal.
“This is a mature guy who is going to maximize his opportunities.”
I’m not expecting miracles from Beck. No Dolphin fan should. All we can realistically hope for is to find out if Beck can be an NFL quality Quarterback. If not Miami needs to go shopping in the draft for that position.
